Florence, Italy
Shot the same day as the “Flatiron District” photo. In addition to the rainy day helping to saturate the colors, a man with a (can you believe it) blue umbrella walked through the frame completing the composition.
Crouched under an umbrella on a rainy day I watched this woman walk into my shot of the Flatiron Bldg. I knew that if I caught her at the right time her umbrella and red shirt would bring balance and a focal point to the picture. The image was later manipulated to make a flat lit, ugly, gray rainy day look surreal and ominous.

An open-air storage area behind an olive grower’s farmhouse outside of Florence.
Given to me by my sister this past Christmas, this Amaryllis flower grew much larger than I expected. I took some pictures of it in January using a technique that produces a very deep focus. After printing it on a watercolor type paper I decided to include it in this exhibition. It is the only 2019 entry.

An enormous frame art piece located at one of the entrances to the town of Pietrasanta in Tuscany.

While attending an event at Shagbark Restaurant in Richmond I noticed a striking light array that appeared recently cleaned. Converted to Black and White the stark globes have more impact than in the original warm color version.
