When I look at this image, I’m reminded of the song “Midnight on the Bay” (...lights are shinin' and the sailboats sway) by Neil Young. Shot in 2018 it was taken from the island of Ortigia, Sicily.

Bob and I were joined at the hip in our youth. Sadly, later in life we became estranged but not before he allowed me to photograph him in 2012 on the site of the Correctional Facility in Goochland where he then worked. Bob passed last year and now we will never be able to reconcile our differences. It’s a story that repeats too often these days. I miss you Bobby.

Chesterfield, Va 2010
Another photo shot for the Chesterfield Observer. Bob Bluford flew 18 missions over the European Theater. Six of which were as a Group Leader. A pilot and a First Lieutenant at age 24 he was considered "the old man" since most of his crew members were still 19. Part of the 2010 Wings of Freedom tour at Chesterfield Airport, he and four other B-24 veterans flew with the crew during the Staunton to Chesterfield leg of the flight.

Chicago 2018
A simple shot taken from a hotel window. I would have preferred a marquee announcing something other than The Australian Pink Floyd Show but that was not to be. Still a nice shot of the downtown area of Chicago.
Chicago 2018
Those who are fans of the Blues are probably aware of the first line in the first song of Muddy Waters’ collaboration with Johnny Winter in 1977. Hence the title to this picture shot in Chicago in 2018. When I saw this mural, I spent the better part of one morning trying to capture a street scene that would incorporate the mural in the background. I love this shot.

Tubac, Arizona 2010
Another picture from Arizona. I spent half a day photographing hummingbirds approaching a feeder. Finally, everything came together with focus, exposure, timing, etc. The resident of the home where this was shot was nicknamed King Ba Ba by his great-grandkids. I liked the name and used it as the title of this image.

It wasn’t raining and it was the middle of the day when this was shot. I had become adept at image masking so I wanted to see if I could create a convincing picture that appeared to be shot at night. The rain is just window dressing. One of my favorite shots from a 2014 trip to England and Scotland.
Cumbria, England 2014
Another rainy day in north England. I’d always wanted to see the Roman wall that is near the England / Scotland border. It rained the entire time we were there but the overcast day did add saturation to the greens and gave more texture to the sky.

Back yard violinist Ellen Cockerham Riccio plays on the deck of a house in Brandermill. Principal Second Violin for the Richmond Symphony, she does 45-minute mini concerts outside people’s homes.
